I work for an agricultural applied research association in southern Alberta - Farming Smarter. I started out as a journalist, became a communication consultant to small environmental and agricultural non profits concentrated in southern Alberta. Small non profit organizations tend to have diverse job descriptions for all the people that work for them, my experience covers a lot ground.
