Build it and they will come: Harness creativity to make remarkable donor acquisition campaigns

With galas, direct mail and P2P fundraising well established, Canuck Place Children’s Hospice was looking for a stand-out way to get more attention and acquire new donors.

Their remarkable result was “Best Day Ever,” a month-long, online/offline, storytelling campaign centred on a giant, 2000-square foot blanket fort erected in downtown Vancouver and open to the public. The creative campaign pulled skills and insight from communications, events, fundraising and sponsorship teams in a single effort to raise awareness and funds to make best days for kids and families at the hospice.

Join Debbie Butt, Director of Marketing, Communications and Events at Canuck Place and Julie Szabo, campaign strategist at Capulet, for an honest discussion of the gambles, pay-offs and lasting outcomes of taking a creative, unconventional approach to donor acquisition.
